Crested Butte is pretty much the cutest, greatest town in America. It has the charm of a quaint, small town with independently owned businesses (no sight of McD's or anything chain), boasts an array of delicious coffee shops, and is called "the last great Colorado ski town" for good reason.
We checked into our gorgeous room at Elevations and took the concierge up on his recommendation for dinner: The Notorious F.I.G pizza from the Secret Stash. O...M...G. Here is the description:
"THE NOTORIOUS F.I.G.
2007 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PIZZA WINNER!!!
A delicious blend of mozzarella, blue + asiago cheeses, thinly sliced proscuito, fresh figs and a drizzle of truffle oil"
Um, amazing! Yeah, I think we're going to like this place. Best coffee, nicest people, most comfy, homey feeling. If I enjoyed the snow for longer than 5 minutes each winter, I would move here in a heartbeat.
Our plan for this town was to hike 13 miles from Crested Butte to Aspen. Unfortunately, the snowpack was still too high so we had to figure out Plan B. Our guide, Laura, recommended we try an 11 mile hike to Hasley Pass (~12,000 ft) via Schofield Pass. Jaw-dropping beautiful! I couldn't get enough of this town....bear with me, the pictures are plentiful but worth looking through to soak up all of the Crested Butte-ifulness.
