The "While We Live in Colorado" Must-Do List

The only good thing about moving around is that it really motivates you to be sure to do everything possible there is to do in your city prior to leaving. For a city as fun as Denver, this is challenging. In our 4-5 years here, we haven't had many days where we're not taking advantage of everything this area has to offer. Here is our original list:
  • Tour the Denver Mint
  • Paraglide in Glenwood Springs
  • Go skiing
  • Go snowboarding
  • Ride the 26-mile wine trail in Palisade
  • Bike Moab
  • Hike to Delicate Arch in Moab
  • Go to Mount Rushmore
  • Hike the Black Hills
  • Go to Yellowstone
  • Take the cog railway to the top of Pikes Peak
  • See Garden of the Gods
  • Hike Seven Falls
  • Do the haunted ghost tour at the Stanley Hotel
  • Have high tea at the Brown Palace
  • Bike the Fort Collins Breweries
  • Tour New Belgium
  • See the Rockies play in the World Series
  • See the Broncos play
  • See the Nuggets play
  • See concerts at Red Rocks
  • Run the Denver Half Marathon
  • Go to the Great American Beer Festival
  • Go to the Science Museum
  • Go to the Art Museum
  • See a Phish show at Red Rocks
  • Sample all of the Colorado breweries
  • Go to Casa Bonita
  • Race in Frozen Dead Guy Days

Which leaves us with the following for our summer to-do list:
  • Hike a 14er
  • Road Trip from Steamboat to Aspen to Crested Butte to Telluride
  • Go to the sand dunes
  • Go to the Royal Gorge
  • Go to Cheyenne Mountain
  • Hike from Crested Butte to Aspen
  • Go to Film on the Rocks
  • Tour the Capitol
  • Go whitewater rafting
  • Waterworld
The most recent addition to the "check" list: Waterworld!! We've talked about it every summer, but since we're both always so busy with work/school/summer travel, etc, it kept falling off our radar. Last Wednesday, we realized that we finally had our opportunity: we both happened to have the day off and there were no excuses. We spent the day running around the park riding waterslides and laughing hysterically. It was one of the most carefree, fun days I've had in a while. I'm nowhere near the thrill-seeker Carter is, but he managed to break me out from my chicken mold and I rode every scary ride there, even the big ones that go straight down that I'd sworn I would never ride. I had a sore throat from screaming bloody murder all day and the shakes from so much adrenaline, but it was all so much fun. Even better was that after we spent nearly the entire day there, a thunderstorm rolled in. They closed the park and gave us passes to come back another time. Perfect!

The Revolution - one of our favorites
Scary straight-down waterslide - I'm so proud of myself :)
