It's turned out to be an insanely busy summer! First I'll start with concerts. We went to the Mile High Music Festival and saw Lupe Fiasco, Steve Winwood, Tom Petty and OAR among others. It was a day-long festival which was so much fun. Carter and I went with our friend Lucy then met up with Leslie, Adam and Greta inside. We also got to meet up with Amy and her boyfriend downtown later on. We got to see The Police at Red Rocks, which was a PHENOMENAL show!!!! We had ridiculously good seats and the close up images of Sting are forever burned in my memory. A few weeks later, we saw Joe Cocker and The Steve Miller Band at Red Rocks as well. We are pretty much infatuated with seeing shows at Red Rocks...the experience is unparalleled to any other venue.
Second topic: VISITS! We had a wonderful time visiting with my brother-in-law, Steve, when he was in town. We had a great time hanging out and catching up on what he and Kathleen had been up to since their return from Germany.
I got to spend a wonderful weekend in DC with some of my most favorite people on the planet. I flew in town for Kisha's baby shower and got to see a lot of friends during the weekend. The baby shower was in Warrenton and Nichole and I spent the day walking down memory lane....it brought back so many memories for us both. Since both of our parents moved away years ago, it isn't often that there is an occasion to go back and visit our old stomping grounds. Kisha's baby shower was great and Noah should be making his arrival into the world sometime today! I'm waiting to see if he starts sucking his fingers and twirling his hair like Kisha did :)
I also got to spend time with Courtney, Brooke, Cheryl , Heather and Lauren. I got to meet Heather's little baby girl, Mikayla, who is the sweetest little girl. We had so much fun hanging out and catching up. We also went to the Rascal Flatts/Taylor Swift concert at Nissan, which was a great time. Also, Michelle and Jasen got engaged that weekend! Yay! I was excited to be in town for their celebration over brunch. Congrats, guys!
It was so hard to leave Virginia....I miss you girls...the visits are always too short and I wish we could see each other more often!
The weekend I was in VA, Carter was in Atlantic City for Terral's bachelor party. It sounds like they had a great time and Carter was happy to spend some time with his guys.
Now, for the big news, (drum roll)........we have a contract on a house! We are supposed to close this next week, which means that we will be moving Labor Day weekend. It has been a crazy/stressful summer trying to find our house. Turns out we are pretty high-maintenance buyers (who ever would've thought? ;) The area we'll hopefully be living in is called Congress Park. We'll be really close to two beautiful parks where we can go running, bicycling, picnicking, etc. We've been spending this weekend packing like crazy and praying that the contract goes through. I haven't been wanting to get excited until we close...so come Thursday night, hopefully we will be Colorado homeowners!
That's all about what's been going on here! I started school last week, which has been an adjustment. Fortunately, the dentist I work for is very supportive of my going back to school to eventually pursue dental hygiene. I go to school in the mornings then go to work immediately afterwards. At least when we move, we'll be living downtown close to school so the commuting won't be so arduous. The city is nuts as everyone is gearing up for the DNC...I'm hoping to lurk around and catch an Oprah or Bono sighting :) Wish me luck!
