It's amazing what can happen when I figure out the self-timer on my camera!
Apparently, Zorro lives in Taos

The things you find in mountain towns...
This past weekend was quite eventful and a great time. I went on a road trip to Taos, New Mexico with my friends Jeanne and Eva. I didn't know much about Taos but went on enough roadtrips with Jeanne in college that I knew it was not to be missed! We left bright and early Saturday morning at 7am on what was supposed to be a 4-1/2 hour drive. Wellllll we took a suggested "scenic route" (queue music) which ended up adding on 4 additional hours to our trip (was only supposed to add 30 minutes). However, the new route was a lot of fun and we ended up seeing Hoochie Mama Mountaineering, The Royal Gorge, Rio Grande Royal Gorge and lots of whitewater rafters along the river. There were gorgeous mountain views and lots of really old western towns. When we finally rolled into Taos, we pointed ourselves straight to the bar for some sangria. We ended up at a fantastic bar in Taos that had a hippie funk jam band (the Felonious Groove Foundation) playing that night. We scored a sweet table and had a blast dancing with the locals (the only thing that would have made it better is if the hippie locals believed in the power of deoderant). Everyone there was incredibly friendly and we made friends with what felt like the entire town. We stayed at the Historic Taos Inn and had a great breakfast there the next morning....it's a crunchy, organic kind of town so everything was freshly made....so delicious!

Carter's residency class had a ropes course/bonding event on Saturday. If you've seen the pictures of Carter swinging on vines off the jungle cliffs in St. Lucia, then you'll know this was right up his alley! He had a blast swinging from treetops on the zipline and getting to know his fellow residents outside of work.
On Sunday, we were treated to a visit from Jeff, Tracy and Lydia Sigmon. They had been on a roadtrip vacation around Colorado and New Mexico and stayed with us for the last 2 night of their trip. Sunday night, Carter and Jeff went to the Styx/Boston concert at Red Rocks. Tracy, Lydia and I went out to dinner and had a great time. Monday evening, they surprised us with a wonderful dinner that they prepared for us. It was so wonderful to see everyone and spend time together.
